1. Who you are dealing with
These terms apply to all work carried out by Two Gang Electrical.
Two Gang Electrical is a trading name of Stephen Roberts. Address for correspondence: 10 Deepdene Ln, Bournemouth BH11 9RN. NAPIT registration number: 61061.
You can reach us at info@twogangelectrical.co.uk or on 07714 039124. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Two Gang Electrical, and "you" means the person or business we are doing the work for.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Where a term here would conflict with those rights, your rights win.
2. Quotes and prices
Quotes are free and there is no obligation. We will normally come and look at the job before pricing it, because an electrical job priced over the phone is a guess.
A written quote holds for 30 days from the date we send it.
The price we quote is the price you pay for the work described in it. It can only change if:
- You ask for something that was not in the quote.
- We find something once we start that could not reasonably have been seen beforehand, in which case section 7 applies.
- You supply materials and they turn out not to be suitable, in which case section 11 applies.
In each case we tell you what it means for the price, and you decide, before we carry on.
We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to anything we quote. The figure on your quote is the figure you pay.
Where a job is priced by the hour, or as a call-out, we tell you the rate and the minimum charge before we start, not afterwards.
3. When the contract starts
A quote is an offer. The contract starts when you accept it, in writing, by email, by text or by telling us to go ahead, and we confirm the booking. At that point these terms apply.
4. Your right to change your mind
Most of our work is agreed at your home, or over the phone or by email, rather than at a trade counter. That means the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you, as a consumer, a 14-day cancellation period starting on the day you agree the work. You can cancel within those 14 days for any reason, and you do not have to give one.
This does not apply to business customers, including landlords acting in the course of a letting business.
How to cancel
Tell us, in any clear way: email info@twogangelectrical.co.uk, call 07714 039124, or use the cancellation form below. You can copy and send it, or just write to us in your own words. Sending it before the 14 days are up is enough; it does not have to reach us in time.
We also give you this information on paper, on a single sheet, at the time we agree the work with you. That sheet includes the cancellation form and the box for asking us to start early, so you have it in your hand rather than having to find it on a website.
Model cancellation form
To Stephen Roberts (Two Gang Electrical), info@twogangelectrical.co.uk:
I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service:
Ordered on / received on: ______________________
Name: ______________________
Address: ______________________
Signature (only if this form is sent on paper): ______________________
Date: ______________________
If you want us to start inside the 14 days
Often you will want the work done sooner than that, and an emergency call-out is the obvious case. You can ask us to start straight away, and we are glad to. But so that everyone knows where they stand:
- We will ask you to confirm in writing that you want us to start before the 14 days are up. A signed line on the job sheet, an email or a text is fine. This is a legal requirement and it protects both of us.
- If you then cancel within the 14 days, you still have the right to, and you pay only for the work actually done and the materials used up to that point, in proportion to the whole job.
- If we have not asked you for that confirmation in writing and you cancel inside the 14 days, you pay nothing for what has been done.
If we have finished the work entirely within the 14 days at your express written request, the cancellation right ends once it is complete.
Materials made or cut specially for you
Anything made to your specification, or clearly personalised, is outside the cancellation right. In practice this rarely applies to electrical work, and standard cable, accessories and equipment are not covered by it.
If you cancel later
Outside the 14 days, or where the right does not apply, please give us as much notice as you can. If you cancel a booked job at short notice and we have already bought materials specifically for it or cannot fill the day, we may charge for the materials and for work already done. We will not charge more than we have actually lost.
5. Payment
We invoice on completion, and payment is due within 14 days of the invoice.
On larger jobs, or where materials have to be bought up front, we may ask for a deposit or stage payments. If we do, we agree it with you in writing before the work starts and set out what happens to it if the job is cancelled.
We accept bank transfer. If an invoice is not paid on time we may charge interest and reasonable costs at the rate the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 allows, but only on work for a business, never on a domestic job.
6. What we need from you
To do the job safely and on time we need:
- Access to the property at the agreed time, and somewhere reasonable to park the van near enough to work from it.
- The areas we are working in cleared as far as you reasonably can. We will move what needs moving, but a cleared room is a quicker and tidier job.
- To be able to turn the power off when the work requires it. Tell us in advance if anything in the property must not lose power, such as a freezer, medical equipment, aquarium or a server, so we can plan around it.
- Any information you have about the installation: previous certificates, where the consumer unit is, what has been altered and by whom.
- Where the property is rented, the landlord's permission for the work.
- Somewhere to run a lead from, and water and a toilet on longer jobs, where that is reasonable.
If we cannot get in at the agreed time, or the property is not ready and we have to come back, we may charge for the wasted visit. We will always try to reach you first.
7. What we find once we start
Electrical work is the one trade where what is behind the wall genuinely cannot be seen from the front. Old cable, undersized earthing, borrowed neutrals, previous DIY work and hidden damage are all common, and none of them can be quoted for in advance.
If we find something like that, we stop, tell you what it is, tell you what it means for safety and for the price, and let you decide. We do not carry on and add it to the bill.
Two things we cannot leave, whatever you decide: we will not reconnect an installation we believe to be dangerous, and we will not certify work as compliant when it is not. If you would rather not have remedial work done, we will make the installation safe, tell you in writing what the problem is, and leave you to decide what to do next.
8. Certificates and notification
Every job is tested and certified as the wiring regulations (BS 7671) require. Depending on the work, that means an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, or an Electrical Installation Condition Report.
Where the work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, we register it through NAPIT, who issue you a building regulations compliance certificate. That is what you will be asked for when you sell or remortgage the property, so keep it.
We issue your certificate when the work is complete. Where an invoice is unpaid we may hold the compliance certificate until it is settled, but never the safety information: if there is anything about the installation you need to know for your safety, you get it straight away and in writing regardless of the bill.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report says what state the installation was in on the day we inspected it. It is not a guarantee about the future, and it does not cover anything we could not see or reasonably access, which the report itself will say.
9. Who does the work
The work is carried out by us. On bigger jobs we sometimes bring in another qualified electrician or a labourer to help. Where we do, we remain responsible to you for the whole job and for anyone we bring with us.
Some specialist work is beyond what any electrician does, and connecting to or altering the supply before the meter is the network operator's work, not ours. Where that is needed we will tell you and help you arrange it, but it is a separate job with a separate cost.
10. Our guarantee
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. If something we installed fails because of how we installed it, we will put it right at no cost.
Materials and equipment carry whatever guarantee the manufacturer gives, and we will help you claim under it. A manufacturing fault in a consumer unit, a camera or a light fitting is the manufacturer's, not ours.
The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, damage, misuse, work altered by somebody else afterwards, or a fault elsewhere in an installation we did not install.
This is on top of your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our work must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and those rights last longer than any guarantee we give.
11. Materials and equipment you supply
You are welcome to buy your own light fittings, CCTV kit, EV charger or accessories and have us fit them. If you do:
- We will tell you before we start if what you have bought is not suitable or not safe to install, and we will not fit it if it is not.
- We guarantee our work fitting it, but not the equipment itself.
- If it turns out to be faulty or the wrong item and we have to come back, the return visit is chargeable.
12. Timing
We give you a date and a realistic idea of how long the job will take, and we turn up when we say we will. Electrical work occasionally runs over because of what section 7 describes, and we will keep you informed if it does.
We are not responsible for delays outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, a supplier failing to deliver, waiting on the network operator, or illness. If one happens we will tell you promptly and agree a new date. If a delay makes the work pointless to you, you can cancel and pay only for what has been done.
13. Liability and insurance
We hold public liability insurance.
We are responsible for loss or damage we cause, and for work that falls below the standard of reasonable care and skill. Tell us about any damage within 7 days of the work finishing so we can see it and put it right; leaving it longer makes it much harder to establish what caused what.
We are not responsible for:
- Faults elsewhere in an installation we did not install or inspect.
- Damage to buried or concealed cables, pipes or structure that could not reasonably have been detected, where we have taken proper care to detect them.
- Making good beyond a reasonable standard. We patch and fill where we have had to cut, and we leave the place tidy, but we are not plasterers or decorators, and decoration is not included unless the quote says so.
- Business losses, lost profit or lost data. This limit does not apply to a consumer.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Health and safety, and work we will not do
We may stop work, or decline to start, where continuing would be unsafe. That includes an installation in a dangerous condition, asbestos disturbed or suspected, an unsafe structure or working position, aggressive or threatening behaviour, or a property that cannot be made safe to work in. We will explain why, make safe what we can, and charge only for work done.
If we identify a dangerous condition during an inspection, we will tell you at the time and in writing. Where the danger is immediate we will make it safe, which may mean isolating a circuit and leaving it off.
15. Photographs
We sometimes photograph finished work for this website and for Facebook. We ask you first, we never show an address or anything that identifies the property, and if you say no it makes no difference to anything. If you agreed once and change your mind, tell us and we will take it down.
We also take photographs during a job as a record of what was found and what was done, for example inside a consumer unit before and after. Those are part of the job file and are not published.
16. If something goes wrong
Tell us. Email info@twogangelectrical.co.uk or call 07714 039124, and give us the chance to put it right. We will acknowledge a complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.
Where the work was notified through NAPIT, their own consumer complaints process is also open to you as a NAPIT customer.
We are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme, and where we cannot resolve a complaint between us we do not agree to use one. We have to tell you this in writing, which is what this paragraph is. It does not affect your right to take a dispute to court, and you can also get free advice from Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133.
17. Your information
What we do with your details, how long we keep them and your rights over them are set out in our privacy notice.
18. Using this website
Everything on this site is here for information. We keep it accurate and up to date, but it is not advice to rely on for a particular job, and nothing on it is a quote. Get a quote for your own property and we will tell you what it actually needs.
The content, photographs, text and design are ours or used with permission, and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to look at the site, print a page and link to it. Do not copy the content for your own commercial use without asking.
Do not misuse the site: no attempt to gain unauthorised access, no automated abuse of the enquiry form, and nothing that would damage it or interfere with anyone else using it.
We may change or take down any part of the site at any time, and we do not guarantee it will always be available.
Links to other sites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for what is on them.
19. Changes, and the law that applies
These terms may change. The version that applies to your job is the one published when you accepted the quote, and we will send it to you if you ask.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Failing to insist on something straight away does not mean we have given it up.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can bring proceedings there.
These terms were last updated on 21 August 2026.
